CEAST Joins the Instron Family

CEAST is pleased to announce that Illinois Tool Works (ITW) has purchased the company from its current owners and founder, Dr Mario P. Grosso and his family. Dr Grosso said “We are delighted by this transaction. ITW will be an excellent long-term owner for the company and we are a great fit into the existing business with ITW Test & Measurement Group’s Instron Division”.

CEAST was established by Dr Grosso in 1953 in Turin, Italy, and later moved to its current location in Pianezza. It is a leading supplier of high quality cutting edge instruments for quality control, research and testing on all polymeric materials and its equipment is distributed worldwide.

Illinois Tool Works (ITW) is a Fortune 500 publicly-traded company based in Chicago, USA. It is a diversified manufacturer of engineered products and specialty systems and it has over 60,000 employees in more than 825 operations in 52 countries. Instron was founded in 1946 and is the recognised worldwide market leader in the materials testing industry, with over 1,200 employees around the world.

Gharagozlou also added that it is the intention of ITW and Instron that David Grosso will become the General Manager of the CEAST business which will continue to operate from its Pianezza facility and to serve the marketplaces and customers which it currently does. “We believe that the combination of CEAST and Instron will enhance the reputation of both in the global materials testing market”.
